Client Choice Food Pantry

Roughly 10,000 duplicated people are fed each year through HOPE’s Client Choice Food Pantry. The grocery store setting creates an atmosphere of dignity by allowing clients to select food that meets the nutritional and health needs of their families. In 2021, HOPE’s Client Choice Food Pantry opened Mr. Eddie’s Kitchen, a test kitchen that offers healthy and safe cooking demonstrations and tastings to our clients. Guest chefs from LSU, Southern University, Baton Rouge General, and other partners introduce clients to a variety of foods with which many clients are unfamiliar, expanding their healthy choices through knowledge. Clients also have access to a Client Resource Specialist to help identify and address other needs. Additionally, financial literacy, healthy living, and nutrition classes are offered for those interested in moving forward. This program serves the 70805 zip code.
